The story of Jonah, a prophet running away from people he sees as an enemy, a broken nation. Yet, God tells him to go out and spread the message. Peter, when in a vision from the Lord, sees the creatures as unclean. But the LORD says, “What God has made clean, do not call common” (Acts 10:15). My point with this topic is that we are family, we were also broken in the past and we are called to build the Kingdom of God. Let me explain.

My first point is that there’s a connection between us and individuals who are unaware of The LORD. A connection that runs deeper than our own understanding. A familial connection as brothers and sisters as stated in Paul’s letter to the church of Ephesus. “He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,” (Ephesians 1:5). And His will, as written later, is to give Him praise and glory and to make earth a mirror image of heaven, as said in the Lord’s prayer.

Another item to reflect on is that we ourselves were also broken in our sin. We mustn't forget where we came from, we also were ignorant and had our hearts hardened against God. Yet God says through the prophet Ezekiel, “I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26). We were also broken, yet God gave His favor upon us. In Jesus Christ’s last breath He said, “Forgive them, for they know not what they do,”.

Finally, we must realize that our mission as true, believing Christians and Christ followers is to build the Kingdom of God here on earth. That means that we are to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,” (Matthew 28:19). We are to work together as an army for God and build this nation up so that more are saved. We are to look upon our brothers and sisters in Christ and see potential in their walk with God. We are the body of Christ and we are to act as such.

To conclude, when we see people that seem that they are too out of reach we must remember. We are a family in Christ. We were also broken yet God saw potential in us. And our mission as Christians is to build the Kingdom of God. So the next time you see someone and say they are too out of reach, remember. No one is off His grid.
